A novel class of 1,2,3a,4,x-pentaaza-cyclopenta[a]naphthalenes (x=6, 7, 8 or 9) is described. The compounds have a high affinity for the GABAA .alpha.5 receptors and show inverse agonist activity thereat. The compounds are useful in therapy where cognition enhancement is required.
Cette invention concerne une nouvelle classe de 1,2,3a,4,x-pentaaza-cyclopenta[a]naphtalènes (x=6, 7, 8 ou 9). Ces composés présentent une affinité élevée pour les récepteurs GABA¿A? .alpha.5 et manifestent une activité agoniste inverse au niveau desdits récepteurs. Ces composés conviennent pour des thérapies nécessitant un améliorant cognitif.
