The invention provides a polypeptide consisting essentially of a sequence corresponding to residues 163 to 199 of DP-1 as shown in the Figure, and fragments and variants thereof capable of antagonising the heterodimerization of a DP protein with an E2F protein. Such peptides may be used to induce apoptosis in a cell by introducing into the cell an effective amount of said peptide. Such cells include cardiovascular cells, and the peptide may be delivered in a stent to treat or prevent restinosis.
L'invention concerne un polypeptide consistant essentiellement en une séquence correspondant aux restes 163 à 199 du DP-1, tels que illustrés dans la figure, ainsi que leurs fragments et leurs variants capables d'avoir un effet antagoniste sur l'hétérodimérisation d'une protéine DP avec une protéine E2F. On peut utiliser de tels peptides pour induire l'apoptose d'une cellule en y introduisant une quantité effective dudit peptide. De telles cellules comprennent des cellules cardio-vasculaires, le peptide pouvant être administré dans une prothèse endovasculaire afin de traiter ou de prévenir la resténose.
