The substance comprises any one or more of: an amino acid sequence comprising the sequence presented as SEQ ID No. 2, or a variant thereof, or a homologue thereof, or a fragment thereof, or a derivative thereof, or a mimetic thereof; which substance is capable of acting in a manner that is the same as or is similar to EtxB and/or CtxB; but wherein the substance does not exhibit GM-1 binding activity.
