ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Peptides, their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and processes for their preparation are provided, the pep- tides have the formula: Image wherein R1 is hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted alkanoyl, or substituted or unsubstituted aralkanoyl, R2 is carboxy or protected carboxy, R3 is carboxy, protected carboxy, carbamoyl, or carboxy or protected carboxy(lower)- alkylcarbamoyl, R4 is carboxy, protected carboxy or carba- moyl, and R5 is hydrogen or an amino protective group, with proviso that at least one of R3 and R4 is always carbamoyl; the peptides may be used for the therapeutic treatment of infectious diseases caused by gram-negative and gram- positive bacteria and fungi.
