This invention relates to methods of preventing or reducing the severity of psoriasis. In one embodiment, the method involves administering to the individual a peptide having substantially the sequence of a non-conserved region sequence of a T cell receptor present on the surface of T cells mediating psoriasis or a fragment thereof, wherein the peptide or fragment is capable of causing an effect on the immune system to regulate the T cells. In particular, the T cell receptor has the V.beta. region V.beta.3, V.beta.13.1 or V.beta.17. In another embodiment, the method involves gene therapy. The invention also relates to methods of diagnosing psoriasis by determining the presence of psoriasis predominant T cell receptors.

L'invention concerne des procédés de prévention ou de limitation de la gravité du psoriasis. Dans un mode de réalisation, le procédé consiste à administrer au patient un peptide possédant sensiblement une séquence égale à celle d'une région non conservée d'un récepteur de lymphocytes T présent sur la surface de lymphocytes T provoquant le psoriasis ou un de ses fragments, ledit peptide ou ledit fragment pouvant exercer un effet sur le système immun, de manière à réguler les lymphocytes T. En particulier, le récepteur de lymphocytes T possède la région V.beta., V.beta.3, V.beta.13.1 ou V.beta.17. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le procédé implique une thérapie génétique. L'invention concerne également des procédés de diagnostic du psoriasis au moyen de la détermination de la présence de récepteurs prédominants de lymphocytes T du psoriasis.
