In accordance with the present invention, novel peptides corresponding to epitopes of human immunodeficiency virus-1 gp120 protein and analogs and homologs thereof are provided. These peptides can be utilized alone or in combination, uncou- pled or coupled to other molecules or substrates. The peptides are useful in immunization against human immunodeficiency virus infection and in production of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies. The peptides are selected from those with aminoacid coordinates 151-176; 192-218, 205-230.
