The incorporation of many percarboxylic acids, which otherwise could be incorporated in household formulations as disinfectants and/or bleaching agents, especially at hand-hot temperatures, is precluded or hindered by their adverse physico-chemical properties, such as a propensity to decompose too quickly during storage or explode on impact or when subjected to pressure. The invention provides a stable and effective selection of organic percarboxylic acids which satisfy the general formula (1): X-Ar - CO - NY - R(Z) - CO - OOH in which X represents hydrogen or a compatible substituent, R represents - (CH2)n- in which n = 2 or 3, and Y and Z each represent independently a substituent selected from hydrogen or an alkyl or aryl group or an aryl group substituted by a compatible substituent or aralkyl group provided that at least one of Y and Z is not hydrogen if n = 3. The invention also provides bleaching, washing and disinfecting compositions containing such peracids and processes using them for such purposes.

Cette invention concerne une sélection d'acides organiques percarboxyliques stables et efficaces répondant à la formule générale: X-Ar - CO - NY - R(Z) - CO - OOH, dans laquelle X représente hydrogène ou un substituant compatible, R représente -(CH2)¿n?- dans laquelle n vaut 2 ou 3, et Y et Z représentent indépendamment un substituant choisi entre hydrogène, un groupe aryle ou alcoyle, un groupe aryle substitué par un substituant compatible et un groupe aralcoyle à condition que Y et/ou Z ne représente pas hydrogène si n vaut 3. Cette invention se rapporte également à des compositions de blanchiment, de lavage et désinfectantes contenant de tels peracides ainsi qu'aux procédés d'utilisation de ces compositions pour de tels usages.
