The invention relates to a deuterated polyimide whose skeleton comprises an alternation between at least one repeating unit of the formula (I), wherein Y is a single linkage or a spacer group and at least one repeating unit of the following formula (II): -A1-Z-, wherein A1 is perdeuterated aromatic group provided with 6-10 carbon atoms, Z is a single linkage or a group selected from O-C6D4-, -CO-C6D4-, -C6D4-. The inventive polyimides are used, in particular in the form of transparent materials in the range of 2500-3500 cm 1, for example for laser devices.
