Abstract A device for liquid treatment, such as for separating settleable particles from liquid, comprises a first set of spaced apart generally parallel, perforated vertical sheets forming vertical channels therebetween and a second set of spaced apart inclined imperforate sheets disposed beneath the first set. A horizontal flow of liquid perpendicular to the sheets of the first set and through the perforations therein causes settleable particles of material in the liquid to settle out and slide down the inclined imperforate sheets in the second set to withdrawing means positioned therebelow.
