A B S T R A C T A perforated cigarette tipping paper and a method of making same. The method of making a perforated cigarette tipping paper includes the step of forming perforations in a strip of paper by high-tension spark erosion in one or more zones extending the length of the strip leaving unper- forated regions along the margins of the strip. The perfor- ated cigarette tipping paper is formed in a strip with spark- eroded perforations irregularly distributed in one or more zones extending the length of the strip with unperforated regions along the margins of the strip.
