ABSTRACT Perforated thermoplastic sheets particularly suitable for the production of containers for food products are obtained starting with preformed sheets consisting essentially of walls separated by hollow spaces, by perforating the sheets with a parforating device comprising a solid or hollow cylindrical body having a cone-shaped or truncated cone-shaped tip at one end, wherein said cylindrical body when solid has a coaxial needle adfixed thereto and when a hollow cylindrical body has a coaxial needle capable of being moved with a piston from the retracted position to the position for perforation of the thermoplastic sheets which is sufficiently beyond the tip to perforate said sheets, and then moving back to the retracted position. -1-
