ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention provides a novel perhydrofluorene derivative which is represented by the following general formula and which is useful as a fluid for traction drive and a process for production of the derivative. Image [ 1 ] wherein R1, R2 and R3 each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, X represents ?CH2?p or Image wherein R4 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, p represents a real number of 2-6, q represents a real number of 1-4 and s represents 1 or 0 and k, m and n each represents a real number of 1-4.
