An air heater perimeter seal provides independent positive control of the leak path induced by relative radial and axial movements at the rotor perimeter. A seal member (102) with a relatively wide seal face (104) disposed in a plane (107) perpendicular to the air heater axis (51) allows the seal member (102) to stay within the radial width of the corresponding seat during expansion and contraction of the rotor (48') as it moves from the air side to the discharge gas side and back. In addition, the installation adjustability and the tolerance for radial error of the seal of the present invention makes it possible for out-of-round rotors and warped housings to be properly sealed. An axial slip joint (120) between the seal member (102) and the rotor (48') allows the seal face (104) to remain adjacent to the face of the sector plate and to the seat face regardless of rotor droop. The axial slip joint (120) also acts as a labyrinth seal to control leakage of gasses between the housing (46') and rotor (48').
Un joint d'étanchéité périphérique pour un réchauffeur d'air permet de commander de manière positive et indépendante le trajectoire de fuite induite par les mouvements relatifs radial et axial auniveau de la périphérie du rotor. Un élément d'étanchéité (102) muni d'une surface d'étanchéité relativement large (104) disposée dans le plan (107) perpendiculaire à l'axe (51) du réchauffeur d'air permet de maintenir l'élément d'étanchéité (102) en-deçà de la largeur radiale du logement correspondant au cours de la dilatation et du retrait du rotor (48') tandis qu'il se déplace entre le côté d'entrée d'air et le côté d'entrée des gaz déchargés et inversement.
