Disclosed is a vacuum ion trap comprising a sealed processing space (4) and a permanent magnet (30) which defines a cavity (32) and creates a directed magnetic field (B) in said cavity (32). The sealed space (4) is arranged in the cavity (32) and houses a confinement cell comprising at least two trapping electrodes which are located parallel to each other and perpendicular to the directed magnetic field (B) and are connected to a voltage generator (12). The inventive ion trap comprises at least one permanent magnet (30) which is shaped as a hollow cylinder and structured like a Halbach cylinder so as to create a permanent magnetic field (B) that lies perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (XX') of the cavity of said magnet (30). The invention applies particularly to Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR) mass spectrometry.
Ce pi~ge ~ ions sous vide comportant une enceinte de traitement ~tanche (4) et un aimant permanent (30) d~limitant une cavit~ (32) et cr~ant un champ magn~tique orient~ (B) dans ladite cavit~ (32), ladite enceinte (4) ~tant dispos~e dans ladite cavit~ (32) et renfermant une cellule de confinement (8) comprenant au moins deux ~lectrodes de pi~geage (10) parall~les entre elles et perpendiculaires audit champ magn~tique orient~ (B), lesdites ~lectrodes de pi~geage (10) ~tant connectables ~ un g~n~rateur de tension (12). Il est caract~ris~ en ce qu'il comporte au moins un aimant (30) permanent en forme de cylindre creux, structur~ selon une structure de type cylindre de Halbach, afin de g~n~rer ledit champ magn~tique permanent (B) orient~ perpendiculairement ~ l'axe longitudinal (XX') de la cavit~ dudit aimant (30). Application notamment ~ la spectrom~trie de masse par transform~e de Fourier (FTICR).
