An oral composition is provided in the form of a clear gel dentrifice containing hydrogen peroxide and a polyoxyethylene- polyoxypropylene copolymer. The gel is stabilized against loss of viscosity at low temperatures by the presence of glycerol in amounts more than 30% but less than 50%. The weight ratio of glycerol to copolymer must range from 1:0.7 to 1:0.4. Advantageously for peroxide stability, the composition has a pH of less than 3. Phosphoric acid is beneficial as the acidifying agent.
