A medical breath component analyzer which maintains a database profile of a patient over time. The apparatus may be used chronically by a patient so that a baseline status for that patient may be determined. Acute variations from the baseline are identified as clinically significant. The acquired data can be reported to the patient using the device at home and transmitted electronically to a physician or health care provider. Multiple tests may be provided, ranging from quantitative tests to qualitative tests to quantitative approximations using qualitative devices. A set of tests is selected for a particular patient, and may be customized to the patient's condition. One of the tests may include passing multiple laser beams of differing wavelengths through a breath sample and using pattern recognition to correlate from spectral analysis of all the laser beams.
La présente invention concerne un analyseur médical des composants de l'haleine qui met à jour le profil du patient dans une base de données, pendant une certaine période de temps. Le patient peut utiliser régulièrement cet appareil pour qu'un état de référence soit déterminé pour lui. On identifie les variations aiguës des points de référence comme étant cliniquement importants. On peut communiquer les données acquises au patient utilisant ce dispositif chez lui, puis les transmettre par voie électronique à un médecin ou un prestateur de soins de santé. On peut fournir des tests multiples, allant de tests quantitatifs aux tests qualitatifs, en passant par des approximations quantitatives, au moyen de dispositifs qualitatifs. On sélectionne un ensemble de tests pour un patient donné, lesquels peuvent être personnalisés selon l'état du patient. L'un de ces tests peut consister à faire passer des faisceaux laser multiples de longueur d'ondes différentes dans un échantillon d'haleine, et à appliquer la reconnaissance des formes pour mettre en corrélation par analyse spectrale tous les faisceaux laser.
