A personal direction finding apparatus for sensing electromagnetic, infrared or ultrasound radiation from a source (S) to determine the direction of the source or generate a virtual sound environment. The apparatus is characterised in that it comprises a radiation sensing means (1) worn on the user's head (2) for generating a signal having a variable characteristic depending on the direction (R) of the source (S) relative to the sensing means (1), i.e. the position of the user's head, a receiver (4) optionally provided as a demodulator, a direction signal processing circuit (5) outputting a control signal (x) indicating the angular deviation (a) between the direction of the source (S) and the current position of the sensing means (1), i.e. the user's viewing axis, and two earphones (3d, 3g) placed over the user's ears and connected to the output of the processing circuit (5).
La présente invention concerne un appareil personnel de goniométrie utilisable pour la détection d'un rayonnement électromagnétique, infrarouge ou ultrasonore émis à partir d'une source (S), en vue du repérage de la direction de cette source ou de la création d'un environnement sonore virtuel. Cet appareil est caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte un moyen (1) de captage du rayonnement porté par la tête (2) de l'utilisateur et produisant un signal de caractéristique variable en fonction de la direction (R) de la source (S) par rapport au moyen de captage (1), c'est-à-dire à la position de la tête, un récepteur (4), intervenant éventuellement en tant que démodulateur, un circuit (5) de traitement du signal de goniométrie produisant, à sa sortie, un signal de commande (x), fonction de l'écart angulaire (a) entre la direction de la source (S) et la position présente du moyen de captage (1), c'est-à-dire de l'axe d'observation de l'utilisateur, et deux écouteurs (3d, 3g) placés sur les oreilles de l'utilisateur et connectés à la sortie du circuit de traitement (5).
