A B S T R A C T A method of reducing seepage from deposits placed in a disposal zone beneath groundwater level is provided comprising the improvement of providing a highly pervious zone about the disposal zone and being sufficiently distant therefrom to permit groundwater to flow around the disposal zone to reduce a hydraulic gradient across the disposal zone and the seepage from the toxic waste to an acceptable level.
