The invention includes a pesticidal compound comprising at least one organic phenolic compound and at least one salt comprising a divalent cation. Preferably, the organic phenolic compound is chosen from Carvacrol, thymol or combinations thereof; and is derived from a natural source, preferably extracted from a member of the family Labiatae or Verbenacea. Preferably the divalent cation is a transition metal salt and more preferably is zinc chloride or zinc sulfate. The invention also includes methods of eradicating, repelling or preventing infestations of pests, including such pests as insects, mites, ova, fungus, or parasites. The methods comprise the steps of preparing a pesticidal compound, combining it with a carrier, and applying it to the affected area.

L'invention concerne un composé pesticide renfermant au moins un composé phénolique organique et au moins un sel contenant un cation divalent. Le composé phénolique organique est de préférence choisi parmi le carvacrol, le thymol ou des combinaisons de ces derniers, et provient d'une source naturelle, de préférence extrait d'un membre de la famille Labiatae ou Verbenacea. Le cation divalent est de préférence un sel métallique de transition et mieux encore un chlorure de zinc ou un sulfate de zinc. L'invention concerne également des procédés d'erradication, de répulsion ou de prévention d'infestations de parasites, tels que des insectes, des acariens, des oeufs ou des champignons. Les procédés consistent à préparer un composé pesticide, à le combiner avec un excipient et à l'appliquer à la zone affectée.
