ABSTRACT Polyhaloalkene compounds of the formula: F2C=CF(CH2)nXR wherein X is sulfur, oxygen or nitrogen and n is 1 to 4; provided that: (A) when X is sulfur, R is thiazolyl, option- ally substituted thienyl, optionally substituted thianaphthyl, optionally substituted thiazolinyl, optionally substituted thiadiazolyl, optionally sub- stituted oxadiazolyl or 3,4,4-trifluoro-3-butenylox- ycarbonylmethyl; (B) when X is oxygen, R is C(O)R1 wherein R1 is perfluoroalkyl, optionally substituted phenyl, optionally substituted thienyl, optionally substi- tuted furanyl, optionally substituted pyrrolyl or dihydrothiazolylthiomethyl; and (C) when X is nitrogen, R taken with the ni- trogen is an isothiocyanate, succinimide or saccha- rine group. The compounds exhibit activity against plant nematodes and helminths that are indicators of ani- mal anthelmintic activity and therefore are useful in agriculture and veterinary practice.
