The pet door has a rectangular outer frame, constructed from a standard window screen frame piece having a channel into which a resilient gasket strip is pressed to capture the screen. The four sides of the rectangular frame preferably are joined by conventional 90-degree corner inserts. An inner frame, also preferably of conventional screen frame material, and also preferably carrying screen material, is pivotally connected to the outer frame at co-axial upper pivot points, preferably by retractable pins. The door preferably is lockable by virtue of at least one and preferably two retractable pins, remote from the axis of the pivotal connections.
