A pharmaceutical composition comprised of a corticosteroid in combination with a specific inhibitor of Hedghog/Smoothened signalling is described. Exemplifications of the therapeutic use of such a composition are presented with patients having psoriasis. Administration of an effective does of a composition comprised of clobetasol 17-proprionate and cyclopamine rapidly induced differentiation of the epidermal cells in psoriatic lesional skin and caused regression and disappearance of psoriatic lesions within a few days. A synergistic increase in therapeutic efficacy is provided by use of the described composition over that provided by use of either pharmaceutically active ingredient alone.
