A novel article of manufacture and the use thereof is provided herein. The article of manufacture includes packaging material and pharmaceutical agent contained within the packaging material. The pharmaceutical agent is therapeutically-effective for reducing or preventing nervous damage caused by traumatic metabolic, ischemic or hypoxic neural insult. The pharmaceutical agent is able to cross the blood- brain-barrier to contact the nervous tissue in a therapeutically-effective quantity. The pharmaceutical agent includes cyclosporin A or a compound of the class of cyclosporins, or functional derivatives, metabolites, variants or salts thereof, or combination of such compounds, either alone or in admixture with diluents, or additives. The packaging material comprises a label which indicates that the pharmaceutical agent can be used for reducing or preventing nervous damage caused by traumatic, metabolic, ischemic or hypoxic neural insult.
Cette invention concerne des compositions pharmaceutiques et des médicaments utilisés dans le traitement de l'ischémie cérébrale, d'agressions et de troubles du cerveau. Ce traitement fait appel au médicament actif qu'est la cyclosporine A, ses variantes ou ses dérivés acceptables sur le plan pharmaceutique, dans des conditions ou des situations, ou encore lors de procédés où la barrière hémato-encéphalique a été ouverte, interrompue, contournée, transgressée, rendue inutile ou traversée. La cyclosporine A, ses variantes ou ses dérivés acceptables sur le plan pharmaceutique, entrent alors en contact avec les neurones et les cellules supportant les neurones. Cette invention concerne également des procédés d'utilisation desdits compositions pharmaceutiques et médicaments. Cette invention prévoit enfin des conditions, des situations et des procédés au cours desquels le médicament de traitement actif entre en contact avec les neurones et les cellules supportant les neurones.
