PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS AND A DEVICE FOR ADMINISTIERING THE SAME ABSTRACT A pharmaceutical tablet or lozenge is described, which comprises a non-absorbable pharmaceutically active agent, in combination with a tablet matrix, arranged for providing controlled and sustained release of said agent into the mouth and gastro-intestinal tract, from a buccal or sub-lingual location. Also disclosed are buccal tablets formed from non-carigenic sugars and a device for holding a tablet or lozenge in a location within a patient's mouth, from which an active ingredient, from the tablet or lozenge, is releasable by the action of the patient's saliva.
