The invention provides a method for modifying an immune response by administering a Notch ligand protein or polypeptide consisting essentially of the following components: i) a Notch ligand DSL domain; ii) 1 to 5 EFG repeat domains; iii) optionally all or part of a Notch ligand N-terminal domain; and iv) optionally one or more heterologous amino acid sequences; or by administering a polynucleotide coding for such a Notch ligand protein or polypeptide.
