The present invention provides novel compositions and methods for using the S- (+) enantiomer of desmethylselegiline (N-methyl-N-(prop-2-ynyl)-2- aminophenylpropane), for the treatment of selegiline-responsive diseases and conditions. Diseases and conditions responsive to selegiline include those produced by neuronal degeneration or neuronal trauma and thos due to immune system dysfunction. Effective dosages are a daily dose of at least about 0.0015 mg/kg of body weight.

La présente invention concerne des nouvelles compositions et des procédés d'utilisation de l'énantiomère S-(+) de la desméthylsélégiline (N-methyl-N-(prop-2-ynyl)-2-aminophenylpropane) pour le traitement de maladies et d'états pathologiques influencés par la sélégiline. Ces maladies et états pathologiques influencés par la sélégiline sont soit liés à une dégénérescence neuronale ou à un traumatisme neuronal, soit causés par un dysfonctionnement du système immunitaire.
