There is provided novel pharmaceutical compositions containing tyloxapol as the active ingredient. These formulations comprise tyloxapol at concentrations above 0.125 %, preferably from about 0.25 % to about 5.0 %. In addition, the invention encompasses pharmaceutical compositions having reduced hypertonicity which compositions comprise tyloxapol in pharmaceutically acceptable solutions without significant concentrations of hypertonic agents or other active ingredients NaHCO3, or active phospholipids, such as DPPC. The less hypertonic formulations allow one to derive all the benefits of the active ingredient tyloxapol, such as its reduced toxicity and enhanced half-life, while avoiding or reducing side effects, such as bronchospasms, associated with the various hypertonic agents or other active ingredient agents.
L'invention concerne des compositions pharmaceutiques nouvelles, qui contiennent du tyloxapol comme principe actif. Ces formulations comprennent du tyloxapol à des concentrations supérieures à 0,125 %, allant de préférence d'environ 0,25 % à environ 0,5 %. En outre, l'invention se rapporte à des compositions pharmaceutiques dont l'hypertonicité est réduite, ces compositions contenant du tyloxapol dans des solutions pharmaceutiquement acceptables sans concentrations significatives d'agents hypertoniques, d'autres ingrédients actifs NaHCO3 ou de phospholipides actifs tels que la DPPC. Les formulations les moins hypertoniques permettent de tirer un avantage optimum de l'ingrédient actif tyloxapol, notamment de sa toxicité réduite et de sa demi-vie plus longue, tout en évitant ou en réduisant ses effets secondaires, tels que des bronchospasmes associés aux différents agents hypertoniques ou à d'autres ingrédients actifs.
