The present invention relates to novel uridine esters of the general formula (I) wherein R represents a carboxylic acid residue, preferably a fatty acid residue and R' represents hydrogen or a hydroxy group, their use as pharmaceutically active agents against a variety of diseases, methods for the preparation of said uridine esters and pharmaceutical compositions containing at least one uridine ester as active ingredient. The present invention relates also to a drug combination comprising free fatty acids and/or fatty acid esters and uridine, deoxyuridine, uridine monophosphate and/or deoxyuridine monophosphate, and to the use of such a drug combination. L'invention concerne de nouveaux uridine esters de la formule générale suivante, dans laquelle R représente un résidu d'acide carboxylique, de préférence un résidu d'acide gras et R' représente hydrogène ou un groupe hydroxy, ainsi que leur utilisation comme agents pharmaceutiquement actifs contre diverses maladies. Elle concerne en outre des procédés de préparation desdits uridine esters et des compositions pharmaceutiques contenant au moins un uridine ester comme ingrédient actif. L'invention concerne enfin une association de médicaments comprenant des acides gras libres et/ou des esters d'acides gras et de l'uridine, de la déoxyuridine, de l'uridine monophosphate et/ou de la déoxyuridine monophosphate, ainsi que l'utilisation d'une telle association de médicament.
