ABSTRACT An apparatus for determining the phase differ- ence between two input signals over a phase difference range of n x 360° comprises distribution for dividing the two input signals into groups each of n consecutive wave- forms, n phase comparators each connected to a respective corresponding output of each of the two distributors for providing output pulses of a width proportional to the phase difference between the two waveforms concerned, and a summing and time-averaging circuit connected to the out- puts of the n phase comparators to produce an output signal proportional to the phase difference between the two input signals.
