Abstract The invention provides a method for promoting the growth, improving the efficiency of feed utilization or improving the leanness of domesticated animals. The method involves administering to the animal a compound having the formula (I) Image wherein: R1 is hydrogen, hydroxy, or methoxy; R2 is hydrogen or fluoro; R3 is hydrogen or C1-C2 alkyl; R4 is methyl; R5 is hydrogen, fluoro, nitro, hydroxy, SO2CH3 or CONH2; provided that R1 is hydrogen only when R5 is nitro or SO2CH3; or an acid addition salt thereof.
