IMPROVED PHENOLIC RESIN FIBERS AND PRODUCTION THEREOF Abstract of the Disclosure Infusible cured phenolic resin fibers are reacted with a suitable reagent such as anhydrides of carboxylic acids, acid halides, diethyl sulfate or dimethyl sulfate, to block at least about 50% of the phenolic hydroxyl groups of the cured resin by esterification or etherification, whereby infusible cured phenolic resin fibers are obtained which have improved oxidation resistance and colorfastness and which are white. -1-
