A bridging composition is described and claimed for cross-linking phenolic resols or forming novolac resins. The composition contains at least partially sulphonated cyclic phenolic oligomers, optionally combined with at least partially sulphonated linear phenolic oligomers and/or sulphonated phenol. Unlike conventional catalysts used for cross-linking resols or forming novolac resins, said composition is chemically built into the structure of the final products and provides them with novel or modified properties while accelerating said reactions.

On décrit et revendique une composition de pontage qui est utilisable pour effectuer la réticulation de résols phénoliques ou la formation de novolaques. La composition contient des oligomères phénoliques cycliques tout ou partiellement sulfonés, éventuellement additionnés d'oligomères phénoliques linéaires tout ou partiellement sulfonés, et/ou de phénol sulfoné. Contrairement aux catalyseurs classiques de réticulation de résols ou de formation de novolaques, la composition décrite est chimiquement incorporée dans la structure des produits finaux et permet de leur conférer des propriétés nouvelles ou modifiées et d'accélérer les réactions mentionnées.
