ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Phenoxypropionic acid derivatives of the formula Image wherein Q is H or a halogen atom, R is H or CH3, Z is -OH, -O-alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, 1-methyl-4-piperidyloxy, or -NHCH2CH2OH, and the physiologically acceptable salts thereof; possess with good compatibility, outstanding cholesterol and triglyceride blood-level lowering activity as well as enzyme-inducing effects. They can be prepared, e.g., by reaction of a phenol of the formula Image with a compound of the formula X-CR(CH3)-CO-Z wherein X is Cl, Br, I, or a free or esterified OH-group, and Q, R and Z have the values given above.
