ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention discloses a process for the preparation of phenoxypropylamine derivatives having the formula: Image (I) in which X is an unbranched or branched alkylene group containing up to four carbon atoms, R1 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group containing up to six carbon atoms, R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or alkenyl group, in each case containing up to six carbon atoms, a hydroxyalkyl or alkoxyalkyl group, in which the alkyl group in each case contains up to three carbon atoms or a phenyl or benzyl group, R3 is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy group, in each case containing up to four carbon atoms, a halogen atom, a nitro, amino or aliphatic acylamino group, and R4 is a branched alkyl group,a hydroxyalkyl group or a cycloalkyl group containing up to six carbon atoms, and n is 0 or 1 and the pharmaceutically- acceptable acid addition salts thereof. These compounds have valuable properties as .beta.-receptor-blocking agents.
