ABSTRACT The invention is a resinous condensation product of (1) the "ene" reaction adduct of dienophilic alpha-beta-unsaturated aliphatic car- boxylic acid or anhydride or ester thereof with unsaturated cashew nut shell liquid phenol or oligomer thereof and (2) aldehyde. The product is useful for the manufacture of friction modifying particles suitable for use in disk brakes for vehicles.
