Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to novel phenylalanine derivatives having lipid-lowering activity when administered to animals including humans. The derivatives have the general formula; Image wherein (a) A is a substituted phenyl group or a naphthyl group and R is a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group, an amino group or a substituted amino group; or (b) A is a phenyl group, and R is an amino group, a substituted amino group for a methoxy group or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
