ABSTRACT Compounds of the formula Image (I) in which formula the groups R° are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen and alkyl having 1, 2 or 3 carbon atoms, R is hydrogen or methyl: R2 is methyl: R3 and R4 are the same or different and are hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1, 2 or 3 carbon atoms: including pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, can be used for inhibiting selectively the central neuronal uptake of 5-hydroxytryptamine. Further the heart toxicities for these new compounds are considerably weaker than those of imipramine.
