ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A continuous process for purifying phosphoric acid by mixing the crude phosphoric acid and an organic solvent, which is infinitely miscible with water, in the presence of alkali metal ions, whereupon the organic phase in extraction vessels is brought into contact with an aqueous phase containing alkali metal ions while aluminium ions are added in one of the extraction vessels.
