ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A divalent europium activated complex halide phos- phor having the formula; MeIIFX.aMeIX'.bMe'IIX"2.cMcIIIX'''3.dA:eEu2+ in which MeII is at least one alkaline earth metal se- lected from the group consisting of Ba, Sr and Ca; MeI is at least one alkali metal selected from the group consisting of Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs; Me'II is at least one divalent metal selected from the group consisting of Be and Mg; MeIII is at least one trivalent metal selected from the group consisting of A?, Ga, In and T?; A is a metal oxide; X is at least one halogen se- lected from the group consisting of C?, Br and I; each of X', X" and X''' is at least one halogen selected from the group consisting of F, C?, Br and I; a, b and c are numbers satisfying the conditions of 0?a?10-2, 0?b?10-2 0?c?10-2, and a+b+c?10-6; and d and e are numbers satis- fying the conditions of 0<d?0.5 and 0<e?0.2, respec- tively. A radiographic intensifying screen containing said phosphor is also dislcosed.
