An instrument panel assembly (10) having a transparent intermediate substrate (42) inside its housing (16) on which is applied a phosphor coated indicia (40) for giving the appearance of a depth dimension when energized by a UV light source (36). Multiple intermediate substrates (42, 48) can be positioned at different level within the interior region of the housing (16), each containing various indicia (40, 46, 56, 58) which emits luminescent light when irradiated by the UV light source (36). Multiple UV light sources (36, 52) can be set to project UV radiation of different wavelengths into the housing (16) with each of the phosphor coated indicia (40, 46, 56, 58) being selected from material types which are responsive to only one of the various UV wavelengths, so that each indicia (40, 46, 56, 58) can be selectively energized to display warnings, information messages, or the like.
Ensemble de panneau d'instrument (10) qui comporte un substrat intermédiaire transparent (42) à l'intérieur de son boîtier (16) sur lequel on applique des inscriptions (40) à revêtement en phosphore pour lui conférer une certaine profondeur lors de sa mise en marche par une source lumineuse UV (36). De multiples substrats intermédiaires (42, 48) sont placés à différents niveaux dans la région interne du boîtier (16), chacun contenant des inscriptions diverses (40, 46, 56, 58) qui émettent une lumière luminescente lors du rayonnement par la source lumineuse UV (36). De multiples sources de lumière UV (36, 52) sont définies pour projeter un rayonnement UV de différentes longueurs d'ondes dans le boîtier (16), chaque inscription à revêtement phosphore (40, 46, 56, 58) étant sélectionné à partir de types de matières réagissant uniquement à une des nombreuses longueurs d'ondes UV. Ainsi, chaque inscription (40, 46, 56, 58) peut être sélectivement mise en marche pour afficher des avertissements, des messages d'information ou analogues.
