ABSTRACT This invention relates to a process for preparing compounds of the formula Image in which R1 represents a straight chain or branched chain saturated, monounsaturated or polyunsaturated aliphatic radical, in which one or more individual methylene or methine groups may be replaced by oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen atoms; a saturated, monounsaturated or polyunsaturated cyclo- aliphatic radical; or an aryl or aralkyl radical; any of which may be monosubstituted or polysubstituted by one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of C6-aryl, C10-aryl, C12-aryl, halogen, amino, C1-C6-alkylamino, di-C1-C6-alkylamino, hydroxyl, C1-C6-alkoxy, O-CO-C1-C6-alkyl or NH-CO-C1-C6-alkyl, X represents CH2, O, S, NH or N-alkyl with up to 20 C atoms, R2 has the meaning of R1, and can represent hydrogen if X denotes CH2, the radicals R3 independently of one another represent hydrogen, an acyl radical or alkyl radical with in each case up to 20 C atoms, a silyl radical and/or a phosphoric acid or phosphoric acid ester radical and R4 denotes hydrogen, methyl or -CH2-OR3, with the proviso that one of the radicals R3 always represents a phosphoric acid or phosphoric acid ester radical, and the compounds prepared. These compounds stimulate a patient's immune system and are thereby effective in combating viral disease and bacterial infection.
