Materials for photoelectric conversion devices, consisting of polyacene derivatives represented by the general formula (I); and photoelectric conversion devices made by using the materials: [wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, A1, A2, A3 and A4 are each independently hydrogen, halogeno, an optionally substituted C1-40 hydrocarbon group, or the like; and n is an integer of 1 or above]. The materials exhibit excellent processability and productivity, low toxicity, and high photoelectric conversion efficiency, and can be easily flexibilized.
