LD-7524 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A photoflash lamp unit is described having a plurality of flash lamps fired individually and in sequence. The unit includes a plurality of solid state switches, each convertible from a high electrical resistance state to a low electrical resistance state upon activation by either radiant energy or a high voltage pulse. The switch material includes an admixture of a metallic silver source with a sufficient amount of a metal-containing material to convert the switch to the low electrical resistance state by the high voltage pulse used to flash the individual lamps. by using switch material which is voltage-responsive as well as responsive to radiant energy supplied from an adjacent flash lamp the switch is more reliably converted to the low electrical resistance state.
