ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A photoflash unit has one or more flash lamps and a transparent cover in front of the flash lamps. The trasparent cover is provided with elongated light- refractive prisms in front of each flash lamp. When a lamp is flashed, the prisms refract directly-radiated light in a more frontward direction and into an area to be illuminated.
