Abstract of the Disclosure A method of matching a golfer with golf balls with varying aerodynamic properties is disclosed along with apparatus which is useful in carrying out the method. The "launch conditions" with which the golfer "launches" a golf ball are measured to determine the golf ball dimple pattern most suitable for a particular golfer or to determine modifications which should be made in his style of play or club design. The apparatus provides a combination of a camera with an electronically operated shutter and associated flash synchronization equipment so that a first flash of light is obtained after the shutter has opened, when the golf club strikes the ball, and a second flash of light is obtained following the first flash by a controlled time period, the shutter than closing. The photographic image as recorded during the two flashes can be used to determine the initial spin velocity and the launch angle, which parameters can be used in the disclosed method. dap/???
