PHOTOGRAPHIC FLASH DEVICE Abstract of the Disclosure In an automatic photographic flash device, wherein the amount of light emitted from the flash tube is automatically controlled according to the intensity of light reflected from the direction of the photographic subject, by means of an electric circuit, and wherein the flash tube is movably installed on a main part of the flash device containing battery etc. and having a fitting shoe, the invention is basically the provision of a linked switch installed in such a manner that when the flash tube part is in a position for bounce flash photography, i.e. not directly pointed at the photographic subject, the switch causes the electric circuit to compensate for the usual underexposure by increasing the amount of light emitted by the flash and hence received by the camera. In this way, proper exposure can be obtained when the flash device is used for bounce flash photography and moreover, the flash device can be kept relatively small.
