A photographic printing apparatus includes an exposure station disposed in a midway region of a transfer path between a transfer inlet and a transfer outlet along which a negative film having magnetic recording tracks provided thereon is transferred forwardly and backwardly. A magnetic read head is disposed between the transfer inlet and the exposure station, the magnetic read head being spaced from a center line of the exposure station by a distance which is equal to a sum of an integer multiple of the pitch length of one frame on the negative film and a half of the same.
