A photometer (100) is provided with modular lighting units (104) wherein each lighting unit includes one or more light emitters (110). A user may select a desired lighting unit and install it within a photometer base unit (102), and thereafter activate one or more of the emitters (which may emit light of different wavelengths) to illuminate a specimen. The light provided by the specimen in response can then be captured at a detector (132), and analyzed to provide an indication of the specimen's characteristics. Different lighting units (104) may optionally include one or more input light adapters (118) (filters or polarizers which modify the light provided by the emitter (s) to the specimen), and/or one or more output light adapters (144) (filters or polarizers which modify the light provided by the specimen to the detector). Users may therefore select lighting units with emitters and light adapters which are particularly suited for detection/analysis of particular specimens and/or components therein.
L'invention porte sur un photomètre (100) comportant des unités d'éclairage modulaires (104), chaque unité d'éclairage comprenant un ou plusieurs émetteurs de lumière (110). Un utilisateur peut sélectionner une unité d'éclairage désirée et l'installer dans une unité de base de photomètre (102), et ensuite activer un ou plusieurs des émetteurs (qui peuvent émettre une lumière à différentes longueurs d'onde) afin d'éclairer un échantillon. La lumière émise par l'échantillon en réponse peut ainsi être capturée par un détecteur (132), et analysée pour fournir une indication des caractéristiques de l'échantillon. Différentes unités d'éclairage (104) peuvent facultativement comprendre un ou plusieurs adaptateurs de lumière d'entrée (118) (filtres ou polariseurs qui modifient la lumière fournie par le ou les émetteurs à l'échantillon), et/ou un ou plusieurs adaptateurs de lumière de sortie (144) (filtres ou polariseurs qui modifient la lumière fournie par l'échantillon au détecteur). Par conséquent, des utilisateurs peuvent sélectionner des unités d'éclairage avec des émetteurs et des adaptateurs de lumière qui sont particulièrement appropriés pour une détection/analyse d'échantillons particuliers et/ou de composants dans ceux-ci.
