ABSTRACT A multilayered detector apparatus for obtaining image information from the modulation of a uniform flux comprising: a first conductive layer, a photoconductive layer, an insulating layer and a transparent conductive layer. The photoconductive layer is thick enough so as to obtain a desired level of sensitivity and resolution of the detector apparatus when the detector apparatus is exposed to radiation. The photoconductive layer is integrally affixed to and in electrical contact with the first conductive layer. The insulating layer is a phosphor that emits light when irradiated with X-rays. The insulating layer is affixed to the photoconductive layer. The transparent layer is affixed to the insulating layer. This arrangement replaces conventional photographic and radiographic films and produces radiographic images with lower radiation dosages than used in the prior art.
