ABSTRACT When electric charges are vibrated back and forth in a conductor, the strongest component of the resulting magnetic field is at right angles to the axis of the vibration. In the state-of-the-art micro-wave technology, the strong component is not used. Instead, the projected beam of radiant energy is derived from reflected electric fields. The result is that the projected waves of energy are not coherent and tend to spread or fan-out over distance, which limits the signal strength that is available. In my invention, only a selected portion of the magnetic field is used and the electric field is not used except incidently. The projected beam of energy is accomplished by vibrating the charges in a radial pattern. The strong componentsof the resulting magnetic fields combine by vector addition. The combined fieldstake the shape of a toroid, and the projected beam is a train of toroidal waves with alternating polarity. This photon-like structure of fields is coherent and persistent. The desired configuration of the magnetic fields in the projected beam is accomplished by a circular planar array of radial conductors and a planar reflector adapted to return the counter-wave to re-inforce the projected wavefront. To provide the vibrating charges, an electric current is alternated through radial conductors at the carrier-wave frequency. Other means for oscillating electric charges in a radial mode can also be used, such as between shaped electrodes within vacuum tube, or with a radial pattern of capacitors.
